I imagine the above headline would be something a local newspaper would print. In the western Pennsylvania, (including Pittsburgh, PA) and Tri-State areas, there will be a handful believers celebrating Passover this year. When is Passover this year? We’re glad you asked! Passover is Friday April 3rd. Beginning at Sundown is when the Passover is eaten, which is, according to the biblical reckoning of time, the first Day of Unleavened Bread which is a 7 day Feast. The first and seventh days of Unleavened Bread are each considered a Shabbat (Sabbath).
As for believers celebrating Passover and Unleavened Bread, this shouldn’t be something that is atypical or odd. Rather for followers of the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus), this should be a given. The norm if you will. Why? Well for starters (and the only reason needed!) is that these are the “moedim” (Appointed Times) of The Creator. And He actually says so Himself;
“These are the appointed feasts of the Lord that you shall proclaim as holy convocations; they are my appointed feasts.” Leviticus 23:2
And if you are looking for a second reason, there’s one just as good. This is what Yeshua did and would be celebrating if He was physically with us today. (Remember the ‘WWJD’ craze? There’s your answer right there!)
It is exciting to hear that more and more people are having their spiritual eyes opened and realizing that there is more to what they’ve always been taught or done in the general Sunday church setting. Many of us have sat in church for differing periods of time and had that “gnawing” feeling that “there has to be something more, something I’m missing.” Indeed there is!
One of those things is His Appointed Times. As this new cycle kicks off with Passover we are excited to celebrate with those we have begun forming community with and walk out the “Life Cycle” of His Feasts.
If you’d like to learn more about His Appointed Times and why they are integral parts to the life of every one who claims to follow Him please contact us.
Coastlands Congregation of Messiah is a gathering of believers who have begun the journey of getting back to the Word. We are not afraid to shed the traditions of man in favor of the Word of our King. We exist to encourage one another and be a place to build others up in our Messiah Yeshua. We have discovered the ancient path that Jeremiah spoke about and it has changed our lives and our relationship with God through our Messiah, Yeshua (Jesus). We meet each Shabbat (Sabbath) at 1 PM and are located in Washington, Pennsylvania which is just south of Pittsburgh, PA.
We simply desire to walk in the Ways of our King as best we understand and find our identity firmly grounded in Yeshua’s atoning work.
