I often wonder why this happened and continues to do so. In my entire life attending traditional church, bible studies and youth groups, and Church Camp, I cannot recall EVER hearing this:
“These are My appointed times, the times of the LORD that you will proclaim as sacred assemblies.” (Lev. 23:2)*
Instead I heard (and still hear as it’s apparently the ‘party line’) that these are the ‘Feasts of the Jews’ or ‘Jewish things.’ I’m sure most people say that because they do not know, it’s just what the Pastor and everyone else says. Thus it must be true. Right?
I do marvel at times the outright hostility of many believers who claim to have the love of Yeshua (Jesus) towards the very things that Yeshua did and stood for, and towards those who desire to walk, as best they can, the way He walked. Also I marvel at those who hear of these things and outright ignore them, rather they stick their head back into the sand or plug their ears-refusing to investigate the treasures their friends are saying they’ve found.
Perhaps you’ve worn the bracelets or thought ‘WWJD?’ but have you ever asked ‘What did Yeshua do?’ and when you find out, do you find ways to reason it away based on what your Pastor or some other big name teacher who has written 35 books says?
Or will you be a ‘Berean’ and test everything against Scripture?
What are those Appointed Times mentioned above?
Sabbath, Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost (Feast of Weeks), Day of Trumpets, Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) & Feast of Tabernacles.
If you could be objective for just one moment, would you be willing to ask yourself why your church doesn’t celebrate these, and if not, why? Are their reasons in accordance with The King’s Word, or man’s tradition?
Will you be one of the many in these days that is awakening to the whole Truth of the Word and be brave enough to venture out into the ways of righteousness? To leave behind the doctrines and traditions of man when they conflict with the very Word you say you desire to follow?
I pray that you will.
*If you have read this far you might read the above verse in Leviticus and say “Well, look! It says this was addressed to Israel, that’s why we don’t celebrate these. We are the church, those things aren’t for us!.” Sadly this is what most Christians think. Yet they overlook the whole of Scripture, including the Words of The Messiah, Yeshua and also Paul’s witness. Yeshua says that He has ONE Flock, as He’s the ONLY Shepherd (John 10:16). Paul tells us in Romans 11 that if we are IN Messiah, then we are grafted in. Grafted into what? The Olive Tree of Israel. And we are joined to the Commonwealth of Israel (Eph.2:12).
